Project: Liliʻuokalani Center | Honolulu, HI

Liliʻuokalani Center is a groundbreaking 165,000-square-foot, 8-story facility in Honolulu’s Arts District. As Liliʻuokalani Trust’s flagship youth development center, it supports the most vulnerable Native Hawaiian youth ages 12-24. This world-class center offers programs in Arts, Sports, Entrepreneurship, and Technology, guiding youth towards pathways of passion, purpose, and prosperity.

Their comprehensive services address health and wellness, academics, and employment, ensuring holistic support. The Center, the largest Indigenous youth center globally, boasts amenities including a black-box theater, sports courts, innovation lounge, café, maker spaces, music studios, e-gaming areas, and a rooftop deck.

Mākia provided design and consulting services for exterior and interior wayfinding, area identification, and code-required signage for the Liliʻuokalani Center. We collaborated closely with the client, project architect, GC, and signage fabricator to deliver signage and wayfinding solutions that are clear, aesthetically pleasing, ADA-compliant, cost-effective, and complementary to the architectural character while aligning with the Liliʻuokalani Center brand.
